We are delighted to report this delivery of new mattresses for the school dormitory rooms at Rwentobo. In the Garden Missions visited the school last July. They saw the children's beds without mattresses as above and heard they needed 50 mattresses to put on empty beds. And thanks to the generosity of Jessica Weatherly along with money that In the Garden Mission raised through posting the request for mattress purchases on their website, they were able to purchase a total of 67 mattresses! Thank you to Jessica and In The Garden Missions for this wonderful gift. We share in your joy to think that now 67 little children had a bed to sleep on at last and could stay at the school in safety.
A short film of the visit of World Shine UK Chairperson Vicki Shaver, Secretary Flora Mackenzie and website administrator Colin Campbell to Uganda in March this year to visit various projects we support including:
World Shine Ministries Founder Rev. Medad Birungi will be in the UK, Finland and USA during an international speaking tour this Autumn. If you would like to have Medad speak at your church or group please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange that. Dates and venues where you can hear Medad share his story and heart for others will be announced shortly.
Medad's story has also been published in the book Tombstones and Banana Trees available to order from all major bookstores. A trailer for the book is below with a preview of Medad's own testimony.
TBC Mission Rwentobo’s aim was to provide practical and spiritual assistance to the poor and needy people (pupils, staff, parents, local community) connected with the World Shine Primary School in Rwentobo, Uganda. But it was also an opportunity for team members to experience a different culture and use their human gifting and expertise in a new and challenging environment. Therefore 26 people led by Prof. Gordon Miller were set out to Uganda from Tonbridge Baptist Church (TBC) with WSM Missions Coordinator Benson Mugyenyi from Glasgow on 08/02/2014 for a two week mission.
In addition, elsewhere…
The funds & gifts raised for Mission Rwentobo have provided….
Amidst all the hard work the team also enjoyed…
God shared 3 significant Bible verses with us….
Before: Psalm 105:4
Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
During: Isaiah 40:31
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Near the end: Colossians 3:23
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord……..
We went out to Uganda to share God’s love in a practical way and bless others…. but God gave us SO MUCH MORE in return.… Thank You Lord. Mission Rwentobo 2015 is gonna be launched soon. Anyone wishing to join us should contact me first.
